Nikola Mirilovic

Nikola Mirilovic is Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Central Florida. Prior to joining UCF, he was Professorial Lecturer and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Sigur Center for Asian Studies, The George Washington University. He received his political science PhD from the University of Chicago in 2009. Dr. Mirilovic’s article “Explaining the Politics of Immigration: Dictatorship, Development, and Defense” was published in the April 2010 issue of Comparative Politics. He specializes in international political economy and in comparative politics. In particular, Dr. Mirilovic’s research interests include international factor mobility (especially migration), political institutions, and the study of economies in transition and of post-communist states in Asia and Eurasia. He is currently working on two projects on comparative diaspora politics and on the role of democracy in international relations, respectively.
